Lemon Grass Ginger Mint Tea
GF, DF, PF, SF, DBF, AC, VV

Freshly made herbal teas don’t only taste delicious, but they are a great way of using food as medicine!  Adding herbs and spices like ginger, mint and lemongrass to boiling water can be drunk in place of  coffee, which is highly acidic and stressful on the adrenals.  Lemongrass has a cooling effect on the body, great for reducing heat from inflammation.  Fresh ginger is also a powerful anti inflammatory and has a calming effect on the digestive system – ideal for helping to calm an upset stomach, relieve vomiting, and ease gas and diarrhea discomfort.

Fresh mint adds a wonderful freshness to tea and is also naturally calming on the digestive system helping to relieve abdominal upset and gas.

What you’ll need…
2 Tbsp fresh ginger root, peeled
1 stem of fresh lemon grass
2 Tbsp.s fresh mint.
How to make…
Add ingredients to a tea pot of glass coffee plunger and cover with boiling water and allow to steep / infuse for 5 – ten minutes, depending how strong you prefer the flavour
Serving size – enjoy up to 3- -4 cups per day

Sally’s Tip… Look for fresh, firm, ginger that is smooth and mold-free at your local grocer or market. You can freeze ginger root for up to six months.

urally calming to the digestive system helping to relieve abdominal upset and gas. Peppermint oil capsules work well to alleviate IBS symptoms and help clear the bowel. If you don’t find the fresh mint tea strong enough, then add a few drops of fresh peppermint oil to warm water to relieve an upset stomach.
