How dry skin brushing can banish cellulite

How dry skin brushing can banish cellulite

Did you know one of simplest and most inexpensive ways to effectively treat cellulite is adopting the habit of dry skin brushing?

Cellulite plagues many women, resulting in a tireless search for a miracle cure, often in vain. But what many of us don’t realize is what actually causes cellulite and what remedies exist to effectively treat it.

Cellulite is caused by a combination of factors, including excess toxins binding to fat cells, which then present as unsightly indentations in areas we are most prone to storing fat – predominantly the thighs.

Areas of the body with a high fat density have a poorer blood supply, so they have less circulation than areas with a higher muscle mass.

Dry skin brushing works to stimulate circulation and your lymphatic system to remove the toxins and waste from the body, which will in turnbreak down fatty deposits.

Our lymph system is one of the body’s major detoxification mechanisms. When it becomes sluggish from dehydration, lack of exercise or infection, it will not transport toxins as effectively for elimination. These toxins can then accumulate within the body and amongst other things, can cause cellulite.

If you’re looking for remedies that encourage silky soft skin, the first step is not moisturizing, but exfoliating dry surface skin.

Our skin will shed millions of dead skin cells every day, but sun damage, dry skin, genetics, and other skin disorders can lead to a buildup of dead skin cells, which leave our skin dry, dull and flaky.    Dry skin brushing works to sloughoff the dry dead skin, enabling your moisturizer to absorb more effectively, and your skin to stay hydrated longer. Always be sure to use an organic natural skin care range on your body, because using products laced with chemicals, kind of defeats the purpose of what your trying to achieve with dry skin brushing.

To get the best results in banishing cellulite, combine daily dry skin brushing with other dietary and lifestyle practices, including:

  1. Drink plenty of water
  2. Eat plenty of organic fresh green leafy vegetables each day
  3. Exercise 4 – 5 times a week to stimulate circulation – jumping on a mini trampoline each morning is a great way to stimulate your lymphatics.
  4. Start your day each morning with an alkalizing green vegetable juice
  5. Undertake an effective detox program twice a year
  6. Adopt healthy eating habits every day  – check out my e-book Eat Yourself Healthy In 28 Days

Tips on Dry Body Brushing

  • Use a Plant Bristle Brush vs one made from synthetic fibre
  • Never dry skin brush sun burnt or inflamedskin, open wounds, or varicose veins
  • Never dry skin brush when you are suffering acute cancer or enlarged lymph nodes.
  • Avoid dry skin brushing your breasts & genitals,
  • Seek your doctor’s advice before dry skin brushing if you are pregnant.
  • Wash your brush after purchasing and each week, using hot, soapy water and leave in the sun to dry thoroughly.
  • If an allergic reaction appears stop brushing.
  • A slight reddening of the skin (erythema) is normal; it is the blood circulation responding to the skin brushing.

How to dry skin brush:

  • Begin at your feet and toes and make long sweeping brush strokes up your legs in the direction of the lymph nodes either side of your groin. (avoid the genital area) Aim to brush each area around 7 – 8 times.
  • Do the same with your arms, starting at your fingers and hands and dragging the brush in long sweeping stroked in the direction of your armpits. Be sure to go over dry areas like the knees, elbows, feet and legs.
  • Always brush your fingers and hands. Use small circular strokes around the armpit area. This is especially important as the armpits are where the large lymph nodes are located and if you use deodorant containing aluminum, it is essential that you brush thoroughly in this area to stimulate the removal of any toxins.
  • Finish by lightly brushing the back of your neck
  • Switch between hot and cold water a few times to open and close your pores after dry skin brushing as this will aid in the removal of toxins through your skin pores.

You may not notice any results for a couple of weeks after you begin regular dry skin brushing, so be patient and after several months you will see a significant improvement in your skin’s hydration and a reduction in cellulite!
